area. 25+ years experience. Flute and Piano teaching is
specialized in beginner, intermediate, and advanced intermediate
levels. Instruction places emphasis on music reading, performance
on the instrument or voice, and music theory. The lesson plans
are tailored to meet individual levels of talent and desire.
Recitals are held frequently.
Judith
Dicker
is
an
Assistant Professor at Illinois State University. She holds a
M.M. degree in Oboe Performance from Indiana University, and a B.S. in
Music Education from State University of New York at Potsdam.
Formerly on the faculty of Wichita State University and Indiana
University at South Bend, and has taught at the Musikschule
Gelsenkirchen in Germany. Has performed as principal oboist with
the Wichita Symphony Orchestra and the South Bend Symphony, and as
oboist with the Toledo Symphony and the Gelsenkirchen Philharmonic
Orchester in Germany.

Blake
Duncan
is
currently serving as an adjunct faculty member at Bradley University
where he teaches oboe, music technology and music appreciation.
Additionally he serves as oboe instructor and chair of the woodwind
faculty with the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival. He
holds the Solo English horn chair with the Peoria Symphony Orchestras
and performs with the Prairie Ensemble Chamber Orchestra as principal
oboe. His extensive orchestral experience includes English horn
appointments with orchestras as diverse as Caracas (Venezuela)
Philharmonic, the Illinois Symphony, the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the
Mansfield and Akron (OH) Symphonies and Principal Oboe with the
Binghamton Symphony, Tri-Cities Opera and the Cayuga Chamber
Orchestra. An Ordained ELCA Pastor, he is currently the Minister
of Music, organist and choirmaster at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in
Bloomington, and is currently chorusmaster for Opera Illinois.
Mr. Dicker has earned degrees from
UCLA, The Julliard School, The University of Michigan. His teachers
have included: Norman Herzberg, Harold Goltzer, L. Hugh Cooper,
Mitchell Lurie and Mehli Mehta. Mr. Dicker was also a scholarship
student at the Music Academy of the West. Mr. Dicker has been a member
of the faculty at Illinois State University since 1986. In addition to
teaching bassoon and coaching woodwind chamber music, he has been
active in teaching music literature and methods courses. His former
bassoon students currently hold playing and teaching positions in the
New York Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Portugal, Wichita
Symphony, Nordwest-Deutsche Philharmonie, Moorhead State University,
New Mexico State University. He was honored as School of Music
Outstanding Teacher of the Year, 1994-1995.
Elizabeth Shoemaker holds bassoon
performance
degrees from Oberlin, Arizona State and the University of Oregon (DMA)
and has
played and performed throughout the U.S., Europe, and Southeast Asia.
She has taught privately for over 9 years.
Jonathan Parker is currently
serving as principal bass
clarinetist in Illinois State University's Symphonic Band, and is
currently
studying with clarinetist Lara Regan, Professor of Clarinet at St.
Xavier
University in Chicago Heights, as well as Mrs. Andrea Steele, principal
clarinetist of Illinois State's Wind Symphony, the University's top
performing
ensemble. Jonathan has played bass
clarinet for over seven years, and has clinical experience on both Bb
Soprano
Clarinet and the Eb Contralto Clarinet.
Keith
M.
Zimmerman
is a
saxophone and music education professor at Illinois Wesleyan University
where he was also the saxophone and music theory teacher for the summer
band camps for 25 years. He is the former director of the highly
respected Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band programs at Lincoln, Illinois’
District 27 Schools, a position he held for 33 years until late May,
2000 while also teaching at Illinois Wesleyan and
performing. He continues to be in demand as a private
saxophone teacher for many students from a large geographical area of
central Illinois and has served the Illinois Music Educator’s
Association as saxophone auditioner for the All State festival bands
for 29 years.
Mrs.
Kelly
Rackauskas is a 2007 graduate of Illinois State University. She
holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education, with Summa Cum Laude
distinction. Mrs. Rackauskas is employed by Heyworth CUSD #4. She
currently conducts concert bands for grades 5-12 and is the director of
the Heyworth Marching Hornets. Before teaching in Heyworth, Mrs.
Rackauskas served as the band and choral director for grades 5-12 for
CUSD 3 in Cuba, IL. She is a member of the Music Educators National
Conference.
Joe Neisler, Associate Professor of
Horn, joined the faculty at Illinois State in 1985. Dr. Neisler
performs with the Opera Illinois, The Prairie Ensemble and the ISU
Sonneries Woodwind Quintet. Formerly Principal Horn of the Peoria
Symphony, Dr. Neisler has performed with the Indianapolis, Memphis and
Champaign-Urbana Symphonies and Sinfonia da Camera. Joe Neisler is a
Jurist for the International Horn Competition of America, the Horn
Clinician for Bands of America and has performed as a soloist and
adjudicator at Regional and International Horn Workshops. Joe Neisler
has performed with Julie Andrews, Tony Bennett, The Moody Blues, Vince
Gill, Johnny Mathis, Suzy Bogguss, Englebert Humperdinck and Robert
Goulet. He studied with Philip Farkas, Myron Bloom, Frank Brouk, Meir
Rimon and Michael Hatfield. He holds the BM and MM and DM from Indiana
University. Dr. Neisler is an Artist/Clinician for Conn/Selmer and has
performed and given Master Classes in North America, Europe and the
Orient.
Tawnya D. Smith is currently a doctoral student in Music
Education at
the University of Illinois. She is also a horn, brass, and piano
instructor at the Immanuel Bible Foundation where she has an active
private studio and facilitates expressive group activities in music and
art. She received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from
Bowling
Green State University, and a master's degree in Horn Performance from
Illinois State University where she was awarded the Outstanding
Graduate Student Award.
Brad
Harris
graduated
from
ISU with a Masters Degree in trombone performance and wind
conducting. He is the Stage Manager for the ISU School of Music,
and he conducts the Brass Ensemble and Brass Quintet of the Central
Illinois Youth Symphony. He is a regular member of the Peoria
Symphony.
Edward
Risinger
joined
the
faculty at Illinois Wesleyan University in 1997 as instructor of Tuba
and Euphonium. He is also the Director of the Titan Band.
Risinger performed for four years with the United States Air Force Band
in Washington D.C. As a member of the Ceremonial Brass, he played
with the Concert Band, Air Force Quintet, and performed numerous times
in the Chamber Players Concert Series. In addition, Risinger
toured with the Air Force Band in Russia, Norway, Sweden, and the
Netherlands. He has performed with the Peoria Ballet, Peoria
Symphony and the Illinois Symphony and has played extensively
throughout the Midwest and East Coast performing in area symphonies,
brass quintets, and as a soloist. He has served as clinician and
adjudicator at several music camps and festivals. Risinger received his
Bachelors and Masters Degrees from Illinois State University where he
studied with Ed Livingston. Other teachers include David Fedderly
and Rex Martin.
Andy Rummel is the Assistant
Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Illinois State University, a
position he has held since 2006. A native of Delavan, Illinois,
Mr. Rummel received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education and his
Masters Degree in Music Performance from Illinois State University in
Normal and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Musical Arts from the
University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. His private teachers
include Mark Moore, David Zerkel and Ed Livingston. In addition
to serving as a faculty member within the School of Music, Mr. Rummel
is the substitute tubist with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Prior to
his arrival at Illinois State, Mr. Rummel was the Principal Tubist with
the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band and the Heritage
Brass Quintet located at Langley AFB in Virginia. In addition to his
duties with the Heritage of America Band, Mr. Rummel was the instructor
of tuba at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia and was the
substitute tubist with the Virginia Symphony, also in Norfolk,
Virginia. Mr. Rummel performed with the Disney Collegiate All-Star Band
in Orlando, Florida and has given masterclasses throughout the United
States.
Phillip
Beale,
a native of Chicago, Illinois, began his musical career at the
early age of 2 years old in his parents’ church choir. With the
encouragement of his musical grandfather, Phillip would later go on to
study Suzuki piano and violin. In high school, he was active in his
school's jazz band and marching band, as well as Drum Corps. He was a
member of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps as well as Pioneer
Drum & Bugle Corps. In 2001, while marching with the Madison
Scouts, he competed in the DCI solo and ensemble competition where he
won best multiple percussion solo with a score of 99.3. As a result,
Beale was featured in the January and August 2002 issues of Modern
Drummer Magazine. Phillip attended Northern Illinois University where
he majored in Percussion Performance/Jazz Studies under Professor
Robert Chappell, Associate Dean Richard Holly, and Professor Ronald
Carter. Some of the artists Phillip has had the opportunity to tour and
record with are: Ray J., Wayne Brady, Euge Groove, Bobby Brown, Malcolm
Jamal-Warner, Michael Lington, Nikki Jane, Panoramic, Liam Teague,
Eddie Henderson, Conrad Herwig Donald Harrison, Orbert Davis, Willie
Pickens, George Duke, Victor Mendoza, and Michael Spiro. His music was
also featured in the motion picture “With or Without You” in 2003. He
is also a member of the group Panoramic who performed at the 2003
Percussive Arts Society convention with guest artist Dane Richardson
and Michael Spiro. He is endorsed by SABIAN cymbals and Pro-Mark
drumsticks.
